Spring, Rendered Through Our Scanline Generator

Mara Kestrel 14-09-2026 10 Comments

DESCRIPTION

Our scanline generator adds the dark gaps between lines that low-resolution art was drawn for. We ran Spring through it to see what happens to painterly animation.

The effect flatters the backgrounds and fights the fine hair detail. Worth watching on a large screen.

What to watch for

  • Soft gradients in the sky turning into gentle bands.
  • Fine fur detail breaking up between lines.
  • Brightness loss, which we compensated for in the second half.

Did you check the ripple on the 5V rail before and after? Curious how much it moved.

Rosin flux from a jar, cleaned with isopropyl straight after.

Thanks! The shield photo took about twenty attempts.

Ha, we have all been there. The scar is educational.

Honestly the composite version has a charm the RGB one lacks. Fight me.
