Coffee Run Through an RF Modulator

Dee Okafor 07-09-2026 10 Comments

DESCRIPTION

RF was how most of us first plugged a console into a television. We sent Coffee Run through an old modulator to relive the experience.

Tuning it in took longer than the film. The interference patterns are almost a feature.

What to watch for

  • Herringbone interference during the bright scenes.
  • Sound buzz when the picture is mostly white.
  • Fine tuning drift after ten minutes.

My local repair cafe has a whole shelf of these waiting for volunteers.

Manual focus, shutter at 1/30 so it covers a full field.

Ha, we have all been there. The scar is educational.

Would love a follow-up in six months to see how the recap holds up.

Honestly the composite version has a charm the RGB one lacks. Fight me.

That colour bar test pattern is a nice touch. Makes the comparison easy to read.

Good call on labelling every screw. I learned that the hard way.
