Charge on the Big Rear-Projection Set

Dee Okafor 02-08-2026 6 Comments

DESCRIPTION

The rear-projection set in the corner of the workshop is too heavy to move and too good to scrap. We put Charge on it to see how it copes with fast action.

Convergence is off in the corners, but the centre of the picture is still impressive.

What to watch for

  • Colour fringing on the white text.
  • Motion blur during the chase sequence.
  • Brightness falling off toward the edges.

This takes me straight back to Saturday mornings at my cousin’s house.

The sound on this one still gives me goosebumps.

That colour bar test pattern is a nice touch. Makes the comparison easy to read.

Rosin flux from a jar, cleaned with isopropyl straight after.

The scanline shot is gorgeous. What camera settings did you use to avoid the moire?

Same board revision as mine, and the same two caps had leaked. Must be a batch thing.
