Agent 327 on a Sony PVM-14L5

Rufus Tanaka 28-08-2026 7 Comments

DESCRIPTION

The 14L5 has 800 lines of resolution and a reputation to match. Agent 327 has fast action and saturated colour, so the two make a good pair.

We ran it at 480i through component to give the monitor something worth resolving.

What to watch for

  • Motion clarity in the barbershop fight.
  • Saturated reds without bloom.
  • The fine text on the signs in the opening shot.

I tried this last winter and skipped the discharge step. Do not skip the discharge step.

This is exactly the write-up I needed before opening mine. Bookmarked.

Did you check the ripple on the 5V rail before and after? Curious how much it moved.

Great photos. The one of the chassis with the shield off is going on my wall.

Posting this to our club channel, a few of us have been stuck on the same fault.

Same board revision as mine, and the same two caps had leaked. Must be a batch thing.
